This is designed to break the hair bonds that exist in the hair follicle , and a heated flat iron is used to reset the bonds to make the hair straight. If this is not done or taken care of properly, this can lead to permanent hair damage. Moreover, people who have bleached, straightened or coloured hair should avoid this since it may cause severe damages to the hair. People with kinky curls should also avoid this as it may damage the hair.
This is suitable for only medium, smooth, or bulky hair. Rebonding is expensive and time-consuming. Since hair looks beautiful after this process with a rich natural texture that requires no additional styling, people are always happy with the results. This lasts up to 6 to 7 months. However, after rebonding the hair, other styles such as curling cannot be done since it damages the straightened hair. Doing touch-ups every 3 to 6 months and high maintenance too is necessary after rebonding, and on some occasions, this weakens the hair.
The key difference between hair relaxing and rebonding is that relaxed hair is not long-lasting. Moreover, hair relaxing treatments are usually less expensive than rebonding.
The below infographic lists the differences between hair relaxing and rebonding in tabular form for side by side comparison. Hair relaxing involves using chemicals to straighten the hair. This process is less time consuming and less costly. But the results last only up to months, and touch-ups are necessary during it. This process is time-consuming and is expensive. It lasts up to months.
This requires touch-ups and high maintenance. Using hair relaxers that are indeed chemicals, natural bonds in your hair are broken down to give your hair a new texture and shape that leads to permanently straightening your hair strands to which the chemicals have been applied.
After this process is done, a neutralizer is used that stops the chemical process and helps in hair conditioning and styling. In this treatment, both the above-mentioned processes are merged together to get a final, smoother and heat-locked result.
The difference comes where keratin treatment is applied for long lasting, shiny straight hair instead of heating them for styling. Also with the help of all these processes put together, it gives the best possible results. Still I went in for relaxing only to make it more manageable. Got amazing results. After a year I underwent another relaxing session. But since then the fresh hair growth is wavy.
Where I am left with no option but to continue straightening. Result hair loss, itching in scalp. Pls guide is there a way to get back my original texture. Hi wht u mean by hot oil? Can i do it by myself. Take coconut oil make it hot and apply on my hair? Good Dayy. I have a very thick hair that is frizzy and always dry. And a little bit wavy. I don't want to Rebond it because it can leave permanent damages and it would take so long to recover it or maybe not.
So do you prefer Hair Relaxing? Or is it just like having a hot oil or something? I also want to do relaxing or rebonding Don't ever do the relaxer.. My hair keep falling out non stop with very2 little regrowth because the stylist apply it very near to my scalp and it damage my hair follicle.
I can say that i have a very nice hair n quite good looking girl before this thing happen to me. My life will never be the same because of this stupid treatment.. Hi, I have very fine and wavy hair. But I like to have straight hair. But I'm afraid of hair loss. I want to rebond my hair badly. What should I do? Sadly, you can't just get your hair curled back right away. Hai,I just rebonded my hair ,now 3rd day is going on,,I don't like it,,I want my natural curly back,,is it possible??? Its nice to see if your hair was straight.. Hair rebonding is 10x, way better than Relaxers.
Although both straightening processes are damaging, I personally choose Rebonding Japanese Straightening. I've been Rebonding my hair for about 3 years now and I'm always happy with the result. About the relaxers, I've had horrible experiences with them. I got chemical burns when I was in the salon, I could barely take it! Consequently, my hair got super damaged and after even my 1st wash, my curls returned. It didn't last as long.
BUT, my rebonding lasted for almost a year! I didn't have to go regularly for a touch-up. That was the good part!
