How do drive shafts break

My fiords steering wheel starts to shatter and vibrate really bad when driving it gets worse when going around big corners it only started when I got new front tyres is it possible they have done something wrong or could it be the drive shaft. Make sure your lug nuts are tight. It is very dangerous if your lug nuts are coming loose.

I would not drive it anymore until you figure out where that vibration is coming from. I have a Dodge ram when I drive up to 70 miles and over my truck shakes badcould that be the Could my dry shaft need replaced.

There are a lot of things that could cause a 70 mph vibration. Universal joint of drive shaft is jamming until when the bike is in neutral tell me the problem Hai plz. I have a Jeep YJ wrangler 2. I have a Adams shaft for the front and now I would like to replace the rear driveshaft. Do I have to use a Adams or can I use another brand? The Jeep as good as it is still cannot read. If in doubt put duct tape over the brand name.

Usually this hard vibration goes away once i reach around kmh. Also, if I stay in the 1, to 2, rpm range the vibration continues until I adjust the speed accordingly. The vehicle has , km on it. Could be the driveshaft. Are you able to crawl underneath to inspect it? If not, I would take it to a shop to have them check it out. One person thinks drive train, and another person believes it something to do with the rear Differential. Hello, my Subaru Forester is currently back in the shop. It seems to shake randomly, at all speeds and also acceleration and deceleration.

I found the only way to get it to stop is to do the opposite, when it happens in acceleration I just need to decelerate, etc. Could this be a symptom of a bad driveshaft? I have a BMW 3.

I can make turns ok, excellerate easy. Runs good. Idles good, hums nicely! No icons on dash to indicate a problem. Could I have a rear drive shaft problem? I have a cadillac sts all wheel drive. I just purchased it. Engine is good but it does not run, not forward or reverse not even stays in park i have to use the hand break. If you have a good new driveshaft and cv on one side, the other willbe the weak point and will surely fail soon.

OP has yet to get back to post the outcome, but it is not clear if a CV joint failed, the half-shaft failed or simply the half-shaft fell out of the transaxle. Given that front-end brake work was recently performed, I might suspect that a front axle was removed for whatever reason and not reinstalled properly.

Of course, without a half-shaft, all power through the differential will go to the the failed side, and the car can't move.

Most cars do not have a LSD so when one wheel looses traction, that is the one that gets all the power. In this case, since the axle wasn't attached to the wheel, it behaved as if one wheel did not have traction and therefor would not go anywhere.

With my Jetta it would happen that at least once a year I would get stuck while backing down my driveway because I would miss by about a foot, get one wheel into a foot of snow a little, and get stuck because, of course, the way the differential works the wheel sitting in the snow gets all the power while the one still on the driveway just sits there doing nothing.

Such a piss off. As for what causes drive shafts to break But they can break for seemingly no reason as well from what I've gathered from reading lots of car forums.

You only live once, get a v8. Sorry you missed it. If the boot is loose or there's a tear, dirt or debri can go inside. It's terminal and very dangeous when it snaps. I had the drive shaft replaced. So nothing major expense wise. Car is running great again. Is it possible to have 2 different U-joint sizes on my drive shaft? This is a common, especially if the transmission or rear end of your vehicle has been modified.

If you think that you have two different sizes on the same u-joint, you may have a conversion joint. What causes drive shaft vibration? There can be many reasons for a drive shaft to vibrate. One reason for drive shafts to vibrate is components beginning to wear out.

The most common component related reasons for a drive shaft to vibrate:.
